Why did you decide to become a dentist?
Dr. Kim had quite a bit of dental work done as a child, so she spent a lot of time in the dental chair. That experience exposed her to the field early on, and instead of making her anxious, it actually made her curious. She saw how much of a difference a good dentist could make — not just in terms of fixing teeth, but in helping people feel cared for and confident again. Over time, that positive impact stuck with her and ultimately inspired her to become a dentist herself.
The most rewarding part of Dr. Kim’s job as an Endodontist is being able to relieve someone’s pain and help them keep their natural tooth. It’s incredibly meaningful to know that she can make such a positive impact on someone’s comfort and long-term oral health. This passion for helping patients drives her commitment to excellence in every procedure she performs.
Where did you study dentistry?
New York University College of Dentistry – Doctor of Dental Surgery
Dr. Kim earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in Canada before pursuing her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry. After practicing as a general dentist for seven years, she discovered a strong interest in Endodontics. Drawn to its precision and the ability to relieve pain, she pursued specialty training to become an Endodontist and later achieved board certification through the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Kim brings 8 years of total experience to her practice – 7 years as a general dentist before specializing, plus 1 year as a dedicated endodontist. This comprehensive background allows her to provide exceptional care with a deep understanding of overall oral health.
Academic Excellence: Dr. Kim is honored to serve as an adjunct clinical faculty member at NYU College of Dentistry, where she has the opportunity to teach and mentor future dentists. This role allows her to stay current with the latest techniques and research while sharing her expertise with the next generation of dental professionals.
What do you like to do outside of the dental office?
Originally from Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim later grew up in Richmond Hill, Canada, giving her a rich multicultural background. She now lives with her husband and their two children, along with their beloved fluffy dog who brings a lot of joy to their family.
An interesting fact about Dr. Kim is that she was born with one missing front tooth. This personal experience has given her a deeper understanding of dental health and inspired her passion for helping patients maintain healthy, confident smiles.
