Dr. Mahan Ghodrati is an NYU-trained endodontist dedicated to providing gentle, comfortable, and evidence-based care. Growing up, he always looked up to his uncle, a dentist whose compassion and skill left a lasting impression. Although he often arrived at dental appointments feeling anxious, he always left fascinated by the positive impact dentistry could have on a person’s life. Those experiences inspired him to pursue a career where he could help patients feel comfortable, confident, and well cared for.
Today, Dr. Ghodrati finds the greatest satisfaction in changing the way patients think about root canal treatment. His goal is to provide a calm, efficient, and pain-free experience, often leaving patients pleasantly surprised by how comfortable endodontic care can be. He is passionate about preserving natural teeth and believes that saving a tooth provides the foundation for long-term oral health, function, and confidence.
Dr. Ghodrati grew up in Toronto, Canada, before moving to New York City to pursue dentistry and specialty training in endodontics. Fluent in both English and Farsi, he enjoys meeting new people and building meaningful connections. Outside of dentistry, he loves traveling, exploring New York City’s restaurant scene, staying active through running, soccer, and strength training, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Why did you decide to become a dentist?
Growing up, Dr. Ghodrati always admired his uncle, who was a dentist. Although he often walked into his uncle’s office feeling nervous as a patient, he always left fascinated by the positive impact dentistry could have on people’s lives. Watching the trust his uncle built with patients and the confidence he helped restore inspired Dr. Ghodrati to pursue a career in dentistry.
Today, the most rewarding part of being an endodontist for Dr. Ghodrati is providing patients with a calm, gentle, and efficient treatment experience. He believes that exceptional endodontic care combines technical precision with genuine compassion, helping every patient feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their visit. Nothing is more rewarding to him than seeing a patient leave the office relieved, smiling, and able to preserve their natural tooth.
Where did you study dentistry?
Dr. Ghodrati earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from McMaster University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he gained extensive experience managing a wide range of complex dental cases.
Following his residency, Dr. Ghodrati returned to New York University to complete his advanced specialty training in Endodontics. In addition to private practice, he serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at NYU College of Dentistry, helping educate and mentor future dentists. He has also presented endodontic research at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Meeting and remains committed to practicing evidence-based endodontics by incorporating the latest research, techniques, and technology into patient care.
What do you like to do outside of the dental office?
Outside of the dental office, Dr. Ghodrati enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures, with one of his favorite ways to explore a new city being through its local food scene. Whether he’s trying a neighborhood restaurant in New York City or discovering regional cuisine while traveling abroad, he enjoys seeking out memorable dining experiences.
He is also passionate about living an active lifestyle and enjoys running, strength training, and both playing and watching soccer. Outside of his hobbies, Dr. Ghodrati values spending quality time with friends and family, meeting new people, and building meaningful connections. He also enjoys reading and is always looking for opportunities to continue learning, both professionally and personally.
